TLC - Teamwork, Leadership and Communication

The team focus of Changemakers enables young people to work and learn together.  It is about groups generating ideas from within their peer group to help shape the kind of society that they will grow into as young adults.  It is an approach that engenders peer support between adolescents who are maturing into adults.

Changemakers WA purpose

Changemakers WA is an exciting initiative of Anglicare WA.  Our purpose is to promote and support educators (and partners) to develop quality initiatives of Community Based Learning (CBL) that result from the leadership, initiative and values of young people; we call this young person led community involvement. This approach is relevant to  young people of all abilities and within various educational and community settings such as  school, college, training schemes, labour market programs, youth services, the workplace and the broader community

Why Changemakers?

The Changemakers approach to Community Based Learning can achieve:

14 Enterprise skills Youth policy issues of retention and transition support; Education for life as well as participation in academic and vocational education. Engaging young people in processes of active citizenship, community building, regional development and social inclusion.

But above all our highest goal/purpose is to promote and support Community Based Learning that empowers young people to develop the skills and understandings to creatively interact with change for themselves and their community. Changemakers WA is about supporting your work with young people and assisting schools to achieve great things in the world outside the classroom as a highly productive and accessible learning resource. It is also about assisting young people to become confident and independent members of their communities by assisting the development of skills in the areas of citizenship, personal development, employability and learning.
